IRS auctions off Dawsonville, Georgia, pharmacy over taxes

Often when the idea of tax law arises, people may think of filing a return, or possibly an IRS audit. After shutdown, IRS says 2014 tax-filing season will be delayed

Last month, the federal government shut down for 16 days. A few weeks ago, we discussed in a blog post how the shutdown would affect the operations of the Internal Revenue Service. By the end of the shutdown, the IRS had acquired a large backlog that it had to work through, which meant possible delays on returns and other requests. Now, however, the shutdown's effects are reaching all the way into next year's tax season.

Beware of scammers pretending to be the IRS

The Internal Revenue Service recently issued a warning that our readers should be aware of. Apparently, a group of people is calling consumers pretending to be from the IRS. The scammers tell consumers that they owe money and must pay immediately or face serious consequences, including deportation, arrest and suspension of a driver's license.
